AMAZING

Jessie, Amazings mom, keeps a watchful eye as Amazing naps during a visit to one of the adoption events

Amazing came into the rescue with his mother, brother and two sisters. A lady found them outside her home and couldn't take them in. Once we got them to the shelter, we noticed the little black baby (Amazing) was missing a foot and the area was infected. I took him to the vet where we were told that it had to be operated on immediately in order to save his life. Amazing weighed only 5ozs. I was told to take mommy and the rest of the litter home.

About 4 hours later I got a call from the vet. She said the baby was doing fine and the best place for him would be with me. I figured she wanted the baby back with his mother so she could nurse him. But that wasn't so. The vet said the mother will probably reject him because of the hospital smell on him. But she was so wrong. I placed baby in front of momma Jessie and held my breath. Jessie cleaned him from head to toe and then layed down and put her "milk bottles" to the air for the baby to nurse. She took excellent care of the baby. We later found out that the vet really did not expect the baby to make it because he was only 5ozs.

We had a hard time thinking of a name for him. Nothing was quite good enough. As we were leaving the vets after one of his check-ups, the receptionist said to us " he is amazing!". I knew right then that she was absolutely right. His name then became "Amazing".

The other three babies have been adopted. Jessie, Amazing's momma, and Amazing are up for adoption. We would love to keep them together. Jessie is done having babies and has been spayed. Amazing has been neutered. Jessie is still loving on her baby Amazing.
